Wolves given green light for Aaron Ramsdale transfer as Arsenal confirm replacement
Previously, Wolves had been interested in a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. There had been a major obstacle in their path to completing a transfer - the Gunners were unwilling to let Ramsdale go without first securing a replacement for the former Sheffield United shot stopper.
Now, however, Mikel Arteta’s men have done just that. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Joan Garcia of Espanyol - upon his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, the door will be wide open for Wolves to make a move. While Arsenal would prefer a permanent break, Wolves have only shown interest in a loan deal as things stand.
Wolves’ path is not clear just yet - they will face competition from Bournemouth for Ramsdale’s signature. The 26 year old has played for the Cherries in the past - this could prove to be a key factor when he makes his final decision.
In Romano’s post on Instagram, he wrote: “Ramsdale expected to leave as Arsenal agree on terms with García! Aaron Ramsdale, prepared to leave Arsenal in the final days as Bournemouth and Wolves are also interested. Arsenal want permanent transfer as things can happen in any case with English goalkeeper expected to leave. Meanwhile, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Espanyol and Spain U21 goalkeeper Joan García. He will be Arsenal new GK if Ramsdale leaves the club.”
Tottenham Hotspur have ‘sights set’ on move for Wolves’ Joao Gomes
Wolves ace Joao Gomes is a man in demand - according to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are looking to make a move for the player following an injury sustained by Rodrigo Bentancur in their opening game against Leicester City. This blow has left them short of options in central midfield - they will be looking to offset it by bringing Gomes on board.
Furthermore, Spurs are willing to ‘splash the cash’ to make this deal happen. Wolves have no interest in letting Gomes go, especially to another club in the Premier League, but their hand could be forced if the Lilywhites put forth an astronomical offer. Spurs have been some of the league’s highest spenders this summer, having paid huge amounts for both Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray.
Last season, Gomes made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and notching up a single assist. He is an invaulable asset to Wolves in the heart of midfield - losing him would be a blow.
