Ange Postecoglou has publicly addressed the reports linking Tottenham Hotspur with Ben Godfrey.
The former Everton defender now turns out for Italian side Atalanta, but has struggled to make an impact with the Goddess, playing just 93 minutes in five appearances across all competitions.
Even so, Godfrey would add much-needed depth and versatility to Postecoglou’s injury-hit backline having played in every defensive position during his time at Goodison Park — including holding midfield.
That adaptability would prove vital to Spurs, who have seen Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie all injured recently — while Godfrey himself would likely jump at the opportunity to increase his minutes.

Atalanta paid £10m (per BBC Sport) to sign Godfrey from Everton mere months ago.
The two-time England international signed a contract running until June 2029, meaning they would definitely demand a fee from Spurs.
That makes a loan for Godfrey more likely than a permanent transfer.
Postecoglou was asked about the prospect of signing Godfrey in his press conference ahead of the Boxing Day clash with Nottingham Forest.
However, the Australian was noncommital, steering clear of naming names to reporters.
“Sorry? We’re starting naming players, are we?” Postecoglou said (via TBR). “Let’s wait till after Christmas for that.”
Teasing a busy January, he added: “Thanks, we’ll just see mate, I’m kind of hoping, I’ve been really good this year because I’ve got a fair Christmas list for Santa so we’ll see what I get.”
Tottenham are currently 11th in the Premier League ahead of their trip to Nottingham Forest, who are seven points ahead in the fourth and final Champions League spot.
Following that Boxing Day meeting, Spurs host Wolves on Sunday, December 29th in their final game of 2024.
