Ange Postecoglou has described Heung-Min Son's contract extension as 'brilliant'.

On Tuesday morning, we announced we had exercised an option to extend Sonny's contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026 - and speaking in his press conference on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with Liverpool, our Head Coach expressed his delight at the news.

With us since the summer of 2015, Sonny has become a star of world football in his time with us and cemented his place in Spurs history along the way, scoring countless goals, not just important ones but memorable ones as well on his stirring journey at the Club.

His importance to the team was only emphasised further when Ange took charge last summer and appointed our number seven as Club captain, describing him as the 'ideal choice' for the responsibility given not just his stature on the pitch, but the respect he garners in the dressing room.

"It's brilliant," Ange remarked on the news in his press conference. "He has already had an outstanding career at this football club. He has played a big role in the last 10 years. He's made an impact at the Club. He's made an impact in the Premier League.

"It's great to extend his stay, and the aim is to make sure he finishes his Tottenham career with some silverware."
