Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could go head-to-head for the signing of midfielder Enzo Millot this summer.

With Jorginho and Thomas Partey out of contract at the end of the season, Arsenal will look to bring in new reinforcements for their midfield. They have been long-term admirers of Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi and football.london understands Arsenal have already made moves behind the scenes to bring the Real Sociedad midfielder.

Zubimendi came close to joining Liverpool last summer before rejecting a deal last-minute. There is a €60million (£51million) release clause in the Spain international’s contract and it's been reported the Gunners could meet that clause early in the summer.

But it also appears that Arsenal have become alert to Millot's potential availability. The 22-year-old, who joined Stuttgart from Monaco in 2021 and has gone on to become one of Bundesliga's impressive young midfielders.

He played a significant role in Stuttgart's surprise second place finish last season - starting in 27 games in the Bundesliga.

German outlet BILD claims he's attracting interest from several European clubs. Chelsea and Liverpool were reputedly credited with an interest in the January transfer window.

But Arsenal and Tottenham are now mentioned as potential suitors heading into the summer. The French star has all but confirmed his plans to move on at the end of the season.

"A departure? Yes, of course, that’s a goal I’ve set for myself. To be able to take a step forward," he said.

Millot is reported to have a £16.7million release clause in his contract. The Gunners are expected to chase midfield reinforcements while Spurs could look to bring in younger options after a season impacted by injuries.
