Wienroither signs new Arsenal deal

Laura Wienroither has signed a new deal with Arsenal Women.

The defender spent much of the 2023/24 campaign sidelined with an ACL injury, returning to the team in April.

The 25-year-old has made 47 appearances since joining the club in January 2022.

“It’s such an incredible feeling for me to put pen to paper once again for the Arsenal," Wienroither told the club's official website.

“I’m so happy to remain at this club and to have the opportunity to continue playing for a football team that I consider home. Being back on the pitch with my teammates is a feeling I can’t describe, and I can’t wait for the next season to get started.”

Head coach Jonas Eidevall added: “I’m delighted that Laura has signed a new deal with us. She brings us real quality in the full-back position, while her work rate and team spirit are just as important.

"She’s worked so hard on her return to competition and I’m sure she will continue to make a big contribution to the squad moving forward.”

Arsenal target Sesko staying at RB Leipzig

Benjamin Sesko is expected to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig this week, Sky Sports News understands.

The Slovenian striker has been linked with a number if Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham.

However, he will sign an improved deal with the German club ahead of the Euros.

Sesko and Slovenia will face England, Denmark and Serbia at Euro 2024.

Why is Zirkzee in demand?

Joshua Zirkzee graduated through Bayern Munich's system and had spells with Parma and Anderlecht before joining Bologna in the summer of 2022.

The forward received limited game time in his first campaign in Serie A, scoring only two league goals from 808 minutes.

This term, the 23-year-old scored 11 league goals and the shot map below suggests he is most lethal from the left-of-centre region.

The heat map below also shows how the forward typically plays deeper than a conventional striker.

He also ranks among the top five players in Serie A for creating big chances, attempting dribbles and regaining possession in the final third.

Indeed, the radar graphic below reveals he ranks among the top five per cent across Europe in those three metrics.

Arsenal, Man Utd monitoring Zirkzee's AC Milan developments

Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas and Dharmesh Sheth:

Arsenal and Manchester United remain interested in Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee amid strong interest from AC Milan.

Both clubs are understood to be closely monitoring developments with the striker.

Zirkzee is one of a number of strikers Arsenal and United are looking at this summer.

Sky in Italy are reporting that Milan are still pushing to sign him after flying to London late last week for talks.

Nothing was agreed but they remain in contact with his representatives this weekend.

Zirkzee, 23, has a £34m (€40m) release clause in his contract, which has two years left to run.

Arsenal want to bring in a young striker they can develop, having turned their attention away from players such as Alexander Isak and Ivan Toney.

Juventus are also keen on Zirkzee but are currently working on other targets, and they would need to sell a striker to bring one in.

Arsenal must spend £50m to sign Douglas Luiz

Arsenal have been told they will need to spend £50m to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The 26-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Juventus and AC Milan, has established himself as a key part of Villa's midfield under Unai Emery and was a standout performer this season with 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Having secured qualification for next season's Champions League, Villa's finances have been boosted but the club might need to offset new signings by player sales to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

The Premier League clubs who are under pressure to meet the Premier League's financial rules will need to sell players before the deadline on June 30.

Villa have opened discussions with Chelsea over a deal for Conor Gallagher, but the England midfielder is valued at £50m.

Arsenal interested in £65m-rated Bournemouth striker Solanke

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is available for £65m this summer and Arsenal are one of the clubs interested, according to the Sunday Express.

The former Liverpool forward scored 19 goals and registered three assists for Bournemouth last season, and his performances have seen him tipped to move to a 'Bix Six' Premier League club - with Arsenal and rivals Tottenham among those linked.

Solanke led the line impressively for Andoni Iraola's side throughout the campaign but missed out on making England's squad for Euro 2024 this summer, with Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Brentford's Ivan Toney preferred instead.

Arsenal looking to sell Ramsdale, Nketiah, Smith Rowe and Nelson

Arsenal are open to offers for Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Gunners are expected to try and raise additional funds by offloading players who were on the fringes of Mikel Arteta's squad last season.

Those include Ramsdale, who was replaced by David Raya as Arsenal's No 1 goalkeeper.

Nketiah also spent the majority of the campaign on the bench while Smith Rowe and Nelson, who signed a new contract just 12 months ago, are also seen as surplus to requirements.

“I'll just play for Ajax next season,” he told AjaxLife.

“I haven't finished learning here yet. And I want to win prizes with Ajax. That was my dream when I came here.”

Arsenal have made an approach for Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov, according to Spanish outlet AS.

However, the Gunners face competition from AC Milan for the Ukraine international, who has a €30m (£25.6m) release clause in his Girona deal.

Tottenham are also keen on Tsygankov but he is keen to play in the Champions League - something Arsenal and Milan can offer.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of the 26-year-old, who can play on either wing.

Arsenal headlines: Nketiah sale to release Sesko funds?

Napoli have picked out two Arsenal players - Takehiro Tomiyasu and Emile Smith Rowe - they would be willing to include in any potential swap deal that would see £110m-rated striker Victor Osimhen move to the Gunners (Daily Mail).

Fulham keen on Arsenal's Smith Rowe

Fulham have identified Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe as a summer transfer target, according to the Evening Standard.

Arsenal will listen to offers for Smith Rowe and the 23-year-old could seek more regular football after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

Smith Rowe made just 13 Premier League appearances for Arsenal during an injury-hit season, 10 of those coming as a substitute.

Arsenal will also consider offers for other fringe players like Eddie Nketiah, Aaron Ramsdale and Kieran Tierney.

Marco Silva is pushing the Fulham board to back him in the transfer market this summer and wants to strengthen his attack.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City chase Newcastle's Guimaraes

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen to sign Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.

Newcastle are reported to be considering sanctioning a sale of one of their biggest assets to meet Profitability and Sustainability Rules this summer.

Guimaraes is said to have a release clause of around €115m (£98.1m), although the Magpies could accept a fee closer to €80m (£68.2m).

City met with Guimaraes' representatives in January, while their interest in Lucas Paqueta, his Brazil team-mate, has waned due to his FA charge of alleged breaches of betting rules.

Arsenal are keen to upgrade on Jorginho and Thomas Partey at the base of their midfield, while Liverpool see Guimaraes as a potential marquee signing for Arne Slot, the new head coach.

Arsenal to revive interest in Kiwior

AC Milan are set to reignite their interest in Jakub Kiwior this summer, says the Sunday Express.

The Poland international, 24, is contracted to the north London club until the summer of 2028.
