The first North London derby of 2025 happens on Wednesday as Arsenal host Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial Premier League match for both sides.

Arsenal are coming off three straight disapointing results, although fortunately for them the most recent two came outside of the league as they were defeated 2-0 at home in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final with Newcastle before falling on penalties to Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup. Regardless, the Gunners cannot boast good form at the moment despite being in the thick of the league title race once again.

Meanwhile, Tottenham were happy to step outside the league for a couple of matches as they shocked Liverpool 1-0 in the opening leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final and followed that up with a 3-0 FA Cup victory at Tamworth. Spurs now return to league action having lost three of their last four games, and they'll look to avoid slipping even further down the table.

Arsenal vs. Tottenham: What the managers are saying

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal

(via Arsenal.com )

"It’s probably the nicest game of the season to watch because of the atmosphere, because of what it means to our people, what it means to us and everybody involved in the game. This is something that is in our hands, for example. Let’s create the best atmosphere that we have played at the Emirates, that’s our objective. That's something that we control, the players, the staff, and everybody that turns up tomorrow. This is something that we can do, so let's do it."

Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham

(via TottenhamHotspur.com )

"I felt it was intense from the moment I arrived, but at the same time I've never tried to be disingenuous about this stuff and say, 'this means the world to me' when I've literally just arrived. You get the context of the game and what it means to the club and supporters and what it means for our season. From that perspective, right from the first time we played them, I was well aware. It's like being up in Glasgow, you're well aware of know what it means and the ramifications of both the positive and negative. This year is as big as they ever come, especially for us and our season. We have to start winning games in the league and there is no better place to start..."

Arsenal vs. Tottenham: Prediction

Neither team is firing on all cylinders, but Spurs have to feel good about their Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool and that confidence may carry over into this match. Arsenal should have enough in the tank to pick up points, but it will be tough.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham
