Le Parisien understands that Bayern Munich have seen an opening offer of €35m, bonuses included, for Désiré Doué (19) rejected by Stade Rennais.

Having missed out on European football for the first time in seven years, there was an acceptance that some of Rennes’ key players and most promising prospects may leave the club this summer. That is exactly what is already happening with Jeanuël Belocian and Enzo Le Fée’s departures already being confirmed.

However, Doué represents the most bankable asset for SRFC, who believe that they could garner a club-record fee for the versatile midfielder. That record currently belongs to Jérémy Doku (22), who left the Breton club to join Manchester City in a €60m deal last summer. There is nonetheless an acceptance that if Rennes are to garner such a sum for Doué, much of it will have to be comprised of bonuses.

Tottenham and PSG in the race for Doué

A first offer has arrived at SRFC’s doorstep and it has come from Bayern Munich. However, the €35m offer (bonuses included) falls considerably short of the valuation. Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the midfielder, who is currently preparing to play for France at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
