Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on a winger who Spurs are keen on, with the Blues also said to be fans of one wide-forward, who is currently playing his trade at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

One man who has been heavily linked with a move to N17 over recent months is a young English starlet, who is turning a lot of heads in the Bundesliga this season.

It has been reported that Tottenham are keen on signing Jamie Gittens, whose future at Borussia Dortmund is said to be in doubt.

According to various reports, Gittens is expected to leave Dortmund at the end of the season and head back to the Premier League on the back of Die Schwarzgelben’s disappointing campaign.

Chelsea identifies Spurs man as an alternative for Jamie Gittens

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now confirmed that the Dortmund youngster is indeed on Enzo Maresca’s transfer wishlist ahead of the summer.

Interestingly, he claimed that the Blues may even consider a move for Mathys Tel this summer if Tottenham Hotspur do not activate the option to sign him permanently.

Speaking on the Celnie Podcast, Jacobs said: “Jamie Gittens is high in Chelsea’s thinking, you have Nico Williams who is a dream target, but the overall cost of that deal is quite expensive.

“There are a few names there that Chelsea appreciate, even Mathys Tel who, at the moment, is at Tottenham, they’re the ones that have the option to buy, but if they don’t take it, we wait and see if Chelsea revisit that deal. If Tel is available, maybe there is something that Bayern and Chelsea can do.”

Will Tottenham activate Mathys Tel purchase option?

Over recent weeks, it has been reported that Tottenham have decided to renegotiate a discounted deal for Tel rather than activating the £45m option to buy the forward.

That could be down to the fact that the Frenchman has not hit the expected heights since his move to Spurs in January, although Ange Postecoglou has insisted that he has been happy with Tel’s progress.

If Chelsea enter the picture this summer, that might complicate Tottenham’s pursuit even further and force the North London side to prioritise other alternatives.
