Chelsea set asking price for Tottenham target Renato Veiga who is currently thriving on loan at Juventus
The 2024/25 season has undoubtedly fallen short of the lofty expectations set by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.
With domestic hopes already dashed and only the Europa League competition left as a potential saving grace, the pressure is intensifying on Ange Postecoglou with every passing game. If Spurs suffer elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt later this week, the Australian’s time at the club could reportedly come to an end.
Amid the growing uncertainty over the managerial position, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started planning for the crucial summer transfer window. The North Londoners have struggled across the pitch, defensive susceptible, lacking ability to control games in midfield and inconsistent going forward.
Tottenham could undergo some major surgery on their squad in the summer, with several key exits on the cards. One of the most notable potential exits is that of defensive lynchpin Cristian Romero, who has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in recent weeks. Thus, the Lilywhites are actively scouring the market for potential replacements.
Chelsea defender Renato Veiga, who is currently on loan at Juventus, has reportedly emerged as a shock target for Spurs. However, they aren’t the only Premier League club interested, as Brighton and Hove Albion are keeping tabs on the defender too.
Renato Veiga was allowed to leave Chelsea on loan for Juventus during the winter transfer window after failing to cement a starting berth in Enzo Maresca’s XI. Maresca used the Portuguese in different positions across the defence and midfield for the first half of the season, where the versatile defender racked up 18 appearances in total.
The 21-year-old’s fine performances in a Juventus shirt have not gone unnoticed. Now, according to a report from Italian outlet TuttoSport, Chelsea are asking for €28m to sell Veiga permanently amid interest from Tottenham and Brighton.
Having featured regularly under both Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor, Juventus have been impressed by the youngster’s displays and want him available for the Club World Cup. The Turin giants are trying their best to keep the Lisbon-born talent for the first few days of June, hoping to secure a mini extension of the loan deal.

It remains to be seen whether Juventus can agree to extend Veiga’s loan, but Tottenham could play an active role in this situation. Capable of playing at centre-back, left-back and in midfield, the Portugal international’s flexibility, profile and potential appears to be enticing for the Spurs chiefs. As the Blues are willing to sell him for €28m, Daniel Levy has to be all over this deal.
At 21, Veiga has a long way to go in his career, and he could fulfil his true potential at Tottenham provided he gets regular opportunities and the right guidance. He’d be a smart, long-term option to bolster the defensive unit.
