Real Betis are looking to sanction the departure of Nabil Fekir and bring in Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso back to the club.

Lo Celso had a sensational 2018/19 season with Real Betis before making the move to Tottenham. Unfortunately, the switch to the Premier League hasn’t gone according to plan for the Argentine international.

He has fallen down the pecking order over the years and is looking for a move away from the club. According to a report from AS, Real Betis ‘dream’ of re-signing Lo Celso this summer and they are ready to offload Nabil Fekir in order to make things happen.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has had quite a few loan spells away from Spurs. While Ange Postecoglou decided to keep him in his squad for the 2023/24 season, the Australian manager could only hand him 597 minutes of first-team action spread across 24 outings. Frustrated by the lack of game time, Lo Celso wants to part ways with the North London club.

While only a year is left on his deal, Spurs will still look for a decent fee to recoup a part of what they had invested to sign him. Real Betis are keen on his signature but they are not in the best of financial situations to sign him. The report suggests that they will only be able to bring Lo Celso back if they manage to sell Nabil Fekir amidst interest in his signature from Saudi Arabia.

The Spanish club are aware that they need to be patient if they want to bring him back. Fekir is the highest earner at Betis, his departure will help them fit into the salary limit imposed by LaLiga and they will also have room to sign Lo Celso. While it seems to be a distant dream at this stage, if they manage to sell Fekir as well as William Carvalho, it could end up being a reality.
