Saudi Pro League clubs have been alerted to the availability of one Tottenham star after the North London club’s contract decision left the player’s camp unhappy.
Tottenham’s big contract decision on key player
It was reported by GiveMeSport on Tuesday that Spurs had done a U-turn on Heung-min Son‘s future and decided not to offer him the South Korean a long-term deal for the time being.
Instead, the club allegedly decided that they would simply activate the one-year option in their captain’s contract, thus taking the deal to 2026.
The outlet added that Tottenham’s U-turn reportedly left the South Korean’s camp surprised as all parties seemed aligned during the initial contract discussions.
Saudi Pro League clubs plot move
TBR Football have now revealed that Tottenham‘s decision to not offer their captain a new long-term deal has not gone down well with the club captain.
This has not gone unnoticed in Saudi Arabia, with several Saudi Pro League clubs now sensing the opportunity to swoop for the 32-year-old at the end of the season.
The report suggests that the Saudi clubs will have ‘substantial funds’ available in the summer and are targeting many big-name signings, with Son being one of the names near the top of their list.
Neither Tottenham nor Son will entertain Saudi offer
Son will want to continue playing at the highest level for as long as possible and is not the sort of player who is motivated mainly by money. If he was, he would have left Tottenham and doubled his salary a long time ago.
It would be extremely surprising if Spurs do not sit down to open discussions with the forward over a new deal before the end of the season, given his importance to the club both on and off the pitch.
