Cristian Romero has remained non-committal on his Tottenham Hotspur future beyond the end of this season during a recent interview filmed at Hotspur Way.

Romero, 26, is approaching the final two years of the deal signed when becoming a permanent Spurs player in the summer of 2022. Atletico and Real Madrid are two clubs credited with an interest in the Argentina international.

He notably plays with several players from the former with his national team, including Angel Correa, Julian Alvarez, Nahuel Molina and Rodrigo De Paul. Romero has now revealed that he wants to play in La Liga during his career.

Speaking to the Argentine journalists Esteban and Gaston Edul for Los Edul , he explained his motivations and career plan. "I try, above all things, to always live day to day," Romero said, his words translated into English from Spanish.

"There are almost two months left of the season, and I want to perform at my best and try to finish it in the best way possible. We are in the semifinal of the Europa League, which is an important step for the club after so many years that it has not reached this stage.

"After that, we'll see. In the end, I would like to win it, but it depends on many things.

"The truth is that I have not spoken with my agent yet, but I am willing to do anything. My focus is always on growing and looking for new places to continue developing, but I don't want to talk about that yet because there are a few months left to finish the season.

Asked which leagues he has yet to play in, he would like to, Romero acknowledged: "La Liga is a league I would love to play in and need to play in because it is the league that I would lack [to play in all the major leagues]."
