Daniel Levy has had his fair share of criticism from Tottenham Hotspur fans during his 23-year spell as chairman of the club, but journalist Matt Law has now thrown a strong accusation at the Spurs man.
Tottenham Hotspur fans are not happy with Daniel Levy
On a positive note, Daniel Levy has given Tottenham Hotspur a brand new, state-of-the-art stadium, which has helped the club become a commercial behemoth in the world of football.
However, on the footballing side of things, Spurs fans have made it clear that the club has failed to deliver on its massive potential, and the fact the Lilywhites have now gone more than 16 years without a trophy suggests they may be right.
Though Tottenham have come close on a number of occasions — losing in the Champions League final in 2019, the Carabao Cup final in 2021, and finishing second in the league twice — Levy has been accused repeatedly of not backing his club and the respective Spurs managers in the transfer market.
Does Daniel Levy even care about football?
Now, a report from Matt Law at The Telegraph has condemned Levy’s approach to running the football club, and called into question whether the Spurs chairman actually puts football first when he is making decisions.
Law cites the fact that Levy’s three greatest achievements at the club, by his own admission, are building the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, making it to the Champions League final, and having great players. Levy failed to mention the League Cup win of 2008, which struck many as an odd oversight.
According to Law, though, that’s because winning a trophy has not been the “be-all and end-all at Tottenham for well over 20 years now.”

Indeed, the journalist claims the fact the incredible players we have seen at White Hart Lane over the last 16 years have not won anything should be a “source of profound embarrassment” for Levy.
Tottenham Hotspur’s trophy drought has to end this season
I’m not being dramatic when I say that Tottenham absolutely need to win a trophy this season. It has been far too long for Spurs fans and for a club of this magnitude not to have won a piece of silverware.
The Lilywhites have a great chance of winning the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, and those competitions should be the top — nay, the only — priority on Levy’s agenda this year.
