Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 25-year-old struggled for regular game time at the north London club last season and he needs to move on in search of regular playing time.

AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing the Brazilian defender and the Italian outfit are now prepared to restart talks with Tottenham regarding a deal for the 25-year-old, as per CaughtOffside. Initially, it was expected that Milan would move for the Aston Villa defender Matty Cash instead. However, the West Midlands club are demanding a premium for the Polish international defender and therefore Milan have switched their attention towards Emerson now.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can secure an agreement in the coming weeks. Emerson needs to leave the club in order to play more often and a move to the Italian club would be ideal for him.

The 25-year-old is capable of operating as the right back as well as the left back. His versatility will be an added bonus for the Italian outfit if they can get the deal done.

Spurs already have Pedro Porro as the first choice right back at the club and they will not be able to accommodate the Brazilian in the starting lineup. It would be ideal for all parties to go their separate ways.

Emerson would be able to get his career back on track with regular football in Italy, and Tottenham will be able to invest the proceeds from his departure into the playing squad.
