AC Milan have submitted a second bid of €14 million in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal.
‘In the last few hours‘, Milan have ramped up their efforts to secure Emerson’s transfer following a knee injury to their defender Alessandro Florenzi, which has increased their need for a reliable right-back. The Italian club sees the Brazilian international as an ideal replacement.
According to Calciomercato.com, Tottenham initially set Emerson’s price at €20 million but have since lowered their asking price to €18 million, including bonuses.
Despite this adjustment, Milan’s latest offer still falls short, causing Spurs to delay finalising the deal.
Milan’s second offer of €14 million is currently being reviewed by Spurs, who are holding out for €15 million guaranteed, plus an additional €3 million in easily achievable bonuses.
The report claims that Spurs have not given the green light to Milan’s latest offer as yet but a deal is expected to be agreed soon.
Emerson joined Tottenham in 2021, signing a five-year deal for a reported £25.8 million transfer fee. His time at Spurs has been marked by various challenges, including knee surgery following an injury sustained on international duty with Brazil in March of the previous year.
Last season, Emerson demonstrated his versatility by filling in as a starter at left-back and centre-back due to numerous injuries within the squad.
However, he struggled to secure a regular starting position under manager Ange Postecoglou, making only 11 Premier League starts and largely remaining a backup across the defensive line.
As negotiations with Milan continue, Tottenham remains steadfast in their valuation, hoping to reach an agreement that aligns with their financial goals.
