Olympique Lyonnais standout Rayan Cherki could be forcing his way to Paris Saint-Germain. The 20-year-old is linked to various top clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, in addition to the capital club.

Last season, the Parisians scooped up Bradley Barcola from OL. Could they land the player for a second straight summer? Well, if Cherki has the situation go as he wants, then a move to the reigning Ligue 1 champions will happen.

A recent report from L’Equipe revealed that PSG had made a first offer to Les Gones, tabling a bid of €15 million plus an additional €3 million in bonuses. However, that proposal was rejected due to Lyon’s insistence on including a substantial sell-on clause in any potential deal.

In his latest column for PSG Extra Time, journalist Robin Bairner shared his opinion on the transfer rumor and noted his concern over Cherki’s inability to crack through at Lyon to become a regular starter.

“Kylian Mbappé’s mother, Fayza Lamari, is reportedly advising him, so given the friction between the future Real Madrid player’s family and PSG, negotiations must be tense,” Bairner wrote. “Indeed, Foot Mercato has indicated that Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reluctant to sanction a move because of this.

“Furthermore, there’s an element of Hatem Ben Arfa about this deal, whereby a maverick winger is signed by PSG only for his flawed genius to be exposed to the world. It wouldn’t necessarily happen to Cherki, of course, but having failed to make the breakthrough in Lyon, could he do it at PSG?”
