Tottenham Hotspur face Galatasaray on Thursday in one of this round’s more intriguing Europa League matches. There’s hype building in Turkey ahead of the game, and also confidence that the Istanbul club can get a good result against Spurs.

Galatasaray are currently top of the Super Lig, with a game in hand on Samsunspor in second. They’ve scored 29 goals from ten matches so far, so will be confident of being a threat against Tottenham going forwards.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are 7th in the Premier League and their aim will be to secure top four this season, whilst hopefully, and finally, picking up a trophy along the way.

The Europa League presents a good chance for them to do that, and back up Postecoglou’s confident comments about his own personal trophy record.

Barış Alper Yılmaz has scored four of Galatasaray’s Super Lig goals this season, and is in confident mood ahead of the match against Tottenham.

The 24-year-old, who has been playing mainly from the right wing, has been speaking at a Skechers event, and Hürriyet quote him as saying: “The world knows what Galatasaray has done in Europe. We will play in a way that is worthy of that match and hopefully win and make our fans happy. We are successful as a team.

“I am also trying to help the team. Hopefully, we are aiming to be champions this year as well. It doesn’t matter to me which position I am in. Wherever my coach gives me a chance, my only thought is to contribute to my team.”
