Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has made a bold claim regarding his future at the club after the shock defeat against Brighton.
Despite taking a commanding 2-0 lead by halftime, Spurs collapsed in the second half, allowing Brighton to make a remarkable comeback and snatch victory from Tottenham’s grasp.
This loss marked a frustrating setback after what seemed like a promising resurgence, with the club having won five consecutive matches following a rocky start to the season.
With only 10 points from their first seven games, Tottenham currently sit in 9th place, facing their worst Premier League start in 16 years.
Despite these challenges, Postecoglou remains confident in his ability to guide the team forward.
When questioned about the defensive lapses that led to the loss, he assured that there is much he can do to address these issues.
The Australian coach further emphasized that if he couldn’t make the necessary changes, he wouldn’t be in his current role.
As quoted by Football London, Postecoglou stated:
“There is a lot I can do about it. That’s why I’m in the role. If I couldn’t do anything about it, I’d get somebody else to sit here.”
Under Postecoglou’s leadership, Tottenham have shown significant progress in their attacking play, which has become more fluid and effective.
However, the defensive shortcomings remain a major concern. Postecoglou’s acknowledgement of these problems, paired with his commitment to fixing them, demonstrates his clear understanding of what needs improvement. His honesty highlights that Tottenham have the right leader in place.
With some tactical adjustments, particularly on the defensive side, Postecoglou seems well-equipped to guide Spurs to more consistent results as the season moves forward.
