The two Tottenham Hotspur boys are squeezed between laptops, tripods and a shelf full of energy gels, the pair of them sat together on a balcony at the back of an old clubhouse, where down below a squash court is doubling up as Leyton Orient’s physio and massage room.

It is only ten miles from Hotspur Way but a world away from the plush, sprawling Spurs training ground, with its salmon and avocado omelettes, hyperbaric chambers and steam boxes that warm the players’ boots before they play.
