Tottenham Hotspur owe Djurgardens a sizeable sum after Lucas Bergvall’s impressive start to life in North London, Fotboll Direkt reveal.

Bergvall has not disappointed

Bergvall arrived at Spurs with a huge reputation, with many back in Sweden considering him to be one of the best young footballers to come out of the country over recent years.

Many might have not expected Bergvall to make an instant impact at Tottenham, given the huge leap in quality from Allsvenskan and the Premier League.

However, the 18-year-old has hardly put a foot wrong in his first few months at Spurs, impressing every single time he has got an opportunity.

Tottenham owe an additional fee

Fotboll Direkt now point out that while Spurs paid £8m to sign Bergvall in the summer, they now have to pay more to Djurgardens following his Premier League debut.

It is asserted that the Swedish club are now owed an additional £2.5m-£3m from Tottenham as some bonuses have been triggered.

The outlet points out that if all the add-ons are met over the coming months and years, the total fee for the midfielder could rise to £16m.

However, not all of the fee will go to Djurgardens, with the report pointing out that Bergvall’s former club, Brommapojkarna, would be owed around 20 per cent.

Spurs will be happy to pay

One would imagine that Tottenham would not be too disappointed if they do end up paying £16m as that would mean that Bergvall has fulfilled his potential and been a successful signing.

In Ange Postecoglou, the teenager has the ideal man in charge to aid his development, with the Australian coach’s system allowing players to express themselves on the pitch.

Bergvall could have an important role to play in Tottenham’s cup runs and in the Europa League this season.
