Tottenham Hotspur are actively seeking to strengthen their attacking ranks this summer under manager Ange Postecoglou, with Federico Chiesa emerging one of the players they keep getting linked with.
According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Spurs have shown interest in the Juventus star, who has also attracted attention from several Premier League clubs.
Jones reported that the Lilywhites have been monitoring Chiesa’s availability, highlighting the player’s versatility as an ideal fit for Tottenham’s offensive needs.
He noted that Chiesa has been offered to various Premier League clubs, and Spurs have expressed some interest in securing his services.
Given the potential costs of signing other targets like Pedro Neto or Eberechi Eze, Chiesa could be a more economical option for the Lilywhites, considering his relatively low transfer fee.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Jones said:
“I was quite excited for Spurs in the sense of tracking Chiesa’s availability.
“The versatility of Chiesa would be ideal for that team. I actually had it played up to me last week the transfer and the prospect of it. Chiesa has been offered all around the Premier League and Tottenham, I was told, had a bit of a nibble on that. When you consider what they’d have to pay for Neto or Eze, Chiesa would be cheaper than that.”
The 26-year-old winger is in the final year of his contract with Juventus, which expires next June.
Despite suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the 2021-22 season that sidelined him for seven months, Chiesa made a commendable comeback.
Last season, he scored nine goals and provided three assists in 33 Serie A appearances, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level after recovering from a major injury.
Despite Chiesa’s impressive credentials and the financial beauty of the deal, Tottenham appears hesitant to proceed with the transfer. The club continues to evaluate its options to ensure it makes decisions aligned with its long-term goals.
As the transfer window progresses, Spurs supporters will be watching to see if the club decides to pursue Chiesa or opts for other targets to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season.
