Gianni Balzarini believes Tottenham could face serious competition from rival clubs for the services of Juventus star Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa’s future at Juventus has been uncertain for a while now. With his contract running out in 12 months, there are high chances of him making a move away. Tottenham have been pushing hard for the services of the Italian winger.
While reports suggest his agent Ramadani is in London to hold talks with Spurs, Gianni Balzarini suggests there could be other English clubs who are willing to battle it out for the 26-year-old attacker.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Balzarini said via TuttoJuve: “Chiesa is a Premier League player by his characteristics, just look at Liverpool’s repeated interest in him. Rumours say his agent Ramadani is in London these hours to make contact not only with Tottenham. London is a bit of a centre for English negotiations, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was another destination besides Tottenham. So many clubs are interested but none have made a concrete offer so far. The starting price set by Juve is around 20 million due to the looming deadline”.
Chiesa had an incredible start to life at Juventus but injuries have hampered his progress. He hasn’t been able to return to his best for some time now. While Thiago Motta would love to have him around, the Italian club are not willing to meet his demands and a move away might be the only way out. With the deadline day fast approaching, the Old Lady are willing to sanction his departure for just €20 million.
Tottenham are keen on adding more quality out wide on the flanks and they have their eyes set on Chiesa. They consider him to be an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system. He might have had his injury struggles but since he is only 26, the Italian winger can surely bounce back. His arrival will give the Australian manager more options to work with.
The North London club have been working on a potential transfer for some time. But, Balzarini believes they will face significant competition for Chiesa’s services. Liverpool are one of the clubs who have been linked with him throughout the summer.
Rumours suggest his agent Fali Ramadani is in London to hold talks with Tottenham but according to the Italian journalist, London is the centre of English negotiations and he wouldn’t be surprised if his agent ends up meeting other top Premier League clubs. While no club has tabled an offer yet, with the asking price just €20 million it should not be long before multiple top clubs queue up for his signature.
