Ben Jacobs believes Tottenham could make a move for LOSC Lille star striker Jonathan David.

The North London club want to sign a new top-quality number nine before heading into next season and they have been linked with quite a few top forwards. Journalist Ben Jacobs feels Spurs could end up making a move for LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David who has been doing wonders for both club and country in recent years.

The 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength with every passing season since joining the Ligue 1 outfit. He had 30 goal contributions (26 goals, 4 assists) in the 2022/23 season and the number went up to 35 last season (26 goals, 9 assists). David has further enhanced his reputation thanks to his performance for Canada at the ongoing Copa America.

Multiple top clubs are keen on prising him away from Lille with his contract at the French club running out in 12 months. Tottenham are one of the clubs linked with him and Jacobs suggests they could end up signing him ahead of next season with Lille ready to sanction his departure for just £25 million.

While talking on The London is Blue Podcast, Jacobs said: “As far as strikers are concerned, the most experienced name with pedigree at the moment is Jonathan David who is available at a steal.

“I’d keep an eye on Spurs as well and I’m told that Lille will accept well under £30m, around €30m instead of pounds, so around £25m, so Chelsea could be one to watch there.”

Spurs might have decided against signing Harry Kane’s replacement last summer. But, they are now keen on adding a top-quality number nine to their squad as Ange Postecoglou feels it could help them take the next step.

David has been a consistent performer for Lille and with him available for a bargain fee of £25 million, Jacobs feels Spurs could surely make a move for his signature.
