James Maddison is confident that if Tottenham “stick on board the train” with Ange Postecoglou he will lead the club to long-awaited silverware.
Spurs haven’t won a trophy since the 2008 League Cup and will be looking to end that drought this season as they compete in four competitions.
Spurs boss Postecoglou recently made headlines when he said that he "always wins things" in his second year at clubs.

Since that comment, Spurs have won four games on the spin, including a 3-0 victory at Manchester United, and Maddison has called for trust in Postecoglou.
“That’s the only way we are going to get success, if you put your full 100% trust in him and his philosophy and his way,” Maddison told TNT Sports ahead of Spurs’ UEFA Europa League clash with Ferencvaros, live on TNT Sports and discovery+ from 17:00 on Thursday.
“He has always won everywhere and you can see why. I love playing for him, the system and the philosophy, and do believe it can bring us long-awaited success that everyone associated with the club wants.
“It’s about sticking on board the train and hopefully it can take us to the destination we want.”
After his form dipped in the second half of last season, Maddison has again become an influential figure for Spurs this campaign.
He says he started the season “hungry” after missing out on England’s Euro 2024 squad and is hoping to continue to evolve under Postecoglou.
“You have to be fit to play for him, the way you have to run and press, especially as a midfielder, he wants you pressing and then back on the second balls, making runs and being creative. It’s all the stuff I love doing.

“I feel really good at the minute, I feel sharp and in a really good moment. Hopefully I can continue that and keep evolving like I have done over the last 15 months since we both joined the club.”
On Spurs’ recent form, Maddison added: “It’s nice to have a bit of momentum, four wins in a row in all competitions, that normally breeds confidence within the squad so there’s a good feeling at the minute.
“Hopefully we can make it five with a good result here.”
ANGE: SPURS STILL DEVELOPING
Spurs’ clash with Ferencvaros will see Postecoglou take charge of his 50th game for the club.
While there have been ups and downs since he was appointed in the summer of 2023, he believes there is still “enormous growth” in the team.
“We are still a developing team, a lot of our players are still in the early stages of their careers, whether that’s their Premier League careers or their careers in general.
“I think there’s enormous growth in this team.”
Postecoglou also said it is his job to try and take Maddison to another level.
“We have some really good experienced players and Madders is one of those who is outstanding all year, but even with him he wants to take his game to another level and that’s our job to try and get him there.”
Spurs started their Europa League campaign with a 3-0 home win over Qarabag.
Either side of that they scored three against both Brentford and Manchester United in the Premier League.
“Our form has been good all year but we didn’t get the results to match that up,” said Postecoglou.
“But certainly the last four games in different ways we have managed to come out on top and play some decent football and the players are feeling good at the moment.”
