Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Danso was asked about his transfer to Spurs in his pre-match press conference

Tottenham Hotspur are having one of their worst seasons in recent years. The North London club are in the bottom half of the Premier League and Ange Postecoglou is under pressure to keep his job.

Numerous injuries to key players has been the story of the season for the English club. Even after being hit with a number of injuries, Spurs find themselves in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The Lilywhites lost 1-0 against AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the Round of 16, thanks to an own goal from Lucas Bergvall. But there is still time for Ange’s men to turn things around in the second leg.

Some would even argue that the return fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is going to be the defining game of their season. Ange Postecoglou’s future will also be dependent on the outcome of the game, according to many fans.

Kevin Danso spoke about his Spurs transfer

Tottenham Hotspur’s newest recruit, Kevin Danso, spoke about his move to North London. The Austria international was on the verge of joining Wolves, but Spurs came knocking and the 26-year-old decided to join them instead. The Voitsberg-born defender has joined the English club on an initial loan, but according to the BBC, the Lilywhites have an obligation to make the deal permanent for £21million in the summer.

When asked about his transfer to Spurs, here is what Kevin Danso said while speaking in the press conference, as quoted by Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold,

“I’m here now and I try not to think too much about what happened in the past. I can’t change that. I can’t do much about that. I think when a club like Spurs comes knocking, it’s something that I don’t think a lot of people would turn down. Certainly not me. That’s why I am here today.”

The ex-Lens defender has been put straight it into the starting 11 by Ange Postecoglou. Injuries to Radu Dragusin, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven meant that the Austria international has had to play with the inexperienced Archie Gray in defence.

Kevin Danso also spoke about Europe being an important part of his decision to move to the Lilywhites. The 26-year-old said,

“Yeah, 100 per cent. I think Spurs is a big club and we have the chance to play in Europe. That is where Spurs belong. That is what we want to achieve every season, to continue adding to the history and hopefully with some trophies.”
