Who will be top at Christmas?

Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

"Since the Premier League began, Liverpool have been top at Christmas SIX times and gone on to win the title once.

"Chelsea have been top at Christmas five times and gone on to win the title FIVE times."

Follow Chelsea's game at Everton right here...

Here we go!

Liverpool are in north London to play Tottenham and they're hoping to be this year's Christmas No 1.

Arne Slot's side need three points to be sure they don't surrender top spot to Chelsea, who are playing at Everton right now. Follow that game here...

Arsenal also won convincingly at Crystal Palace last night, so the pressure is on for Liverpool in this title race.

Tottenham have had a great week on paper after thrashing Southampton and reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals, but after nearly giving up a three-goal lead against Man Utd in midweek there were mixed feelings following the win.

Spurs' unpredictability and tendency to combust certainly make them a must-watch for the neutral. Their fans seem to be growing tiresome of it, though.

This fixture tends to produce fireworks - let's hope it is a Christmas cracker.

'Outstanding!' | Ange lauds versatile Gray for centre-back performances

Postecoglou: Liverpool are fantastic but 'we'll play our football'

Ange Postecoglou says both he and Tottenham will stick to their attacking philosphy when they meet Liverpool on Sunday and again next month in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Spurs edged out Manchester United 4-3 in a rip-roaring Carabao Cup quarter-final tie and will meet Liverpool over two legs in January.

"We'll play our football because that's what is winning us games," Postecogou said.

"Liverpool are a fantastic side and are going really well. Arne has come in and it's not easy when taking over with the status of Klopp.

"They are very settled as a team and have a lot of quality in the squad. They have real belief at the moment and the standout team in the competition at the moment."

Postecoglou: Football is 'exhilarating'

Ange Postecoglou on the reference to the Gladiator movie when he quoted the line 'Are you not entertained?' to Sky Sports after beating Man Utd:

"A big part of out game is about - maybe entertainment the wrong word – but you go to the game a game football to kinda feel emotions that maybe in your day-to-day existence you don’t normally get the opportunity to - both exhilarating and anxious, that’s what we love about football.

"I’ve said it before there is a lot of suffering in there when you are watching a football game but if you come out the right side it can be an exhilarating feeling."

Postecoglou: No Forster concerns | 'Just got to keep going'

Ange Postecoglou on potential concerns about goalkeeper Fraser Forster after some errors in Tottenham's seven-goal thriller with Man Utd:

"Again, there’s no choice - there is a game on Sunday so we can’t be sitting here worrying about Fraser, who is a very experienced guy, obviously, he was disappointed with the way things panned out. He was outstanding for us before that and in the other games.

"You can sort of focus on those moments or you can sort of lean back on the fact that for the rest of it he was outstanding. You’ve just got to keep going with these things.

"You can wallow in both the negativity or the uncertainty or whatever but you have just got to keep going. That’s my attitude to most things in life.

"At some point, I am sure people are having some pretty bad days out there, but they’ve got to put their shoes on their work outfit on and go to work, go to work and just and earn.

"Of course, we will help Fraser like we help all players but we have got a big game on Sunday and we need him and I am sure he will be ready for it."

Slot: I hope Ange wins a trophy at Tottenham

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has spoken in glowing terms about Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham team ahead of their meeting in the Premier League, live on Sky Sports, this Sunday.

Liverpool currently sit in first place, 13 points ahead of Spurs, but Slot has praised the "great" work Postecoglou is doing in north London and admits he hopes they can secure silverware in the near future.

"Interesting game but every draw would have been interesting with four top teams still in the draw. There was not an easy one," Slot said.

"I really have to give them credit because If I look at Tottenham, I think about Tottenham.

"There's always been a certain brand of football and I think Postecoglou gives them that Identity back completely. Every time it is a joy to watch them.

"Sometimes results go against them but they were one of the teams that beat Man City. Not everyone did it in the manner that we did.

"Great work Ange is doing there, I hope it's being seen there. I really hope he wins a trophy. Not the league cup but I'm a fan of his team for the Europa League.

"People always talk about trophies, that is so important, for me his brand of football is so much more important. If he can combine that with winning something that would be so good for football in general.

"Then people can stop talking about his football being too attacking. How on earth can you play 'too attacking' football?"

Ange hopeful on double injury boost

After an injury-hit Tottenham side beat Manchester United 4-3 in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, Ange Postecoglou said he is hopeful about the availability of Timo Werner and Destiny Udogie for this weekend's trip to Liverpool, live on Sky Sports on Sunday.

"We'll see, the boys are coming in now," Postecoglou told reporters on Friday.

"Timo was unwell yesterday, but 48 hours before the game so hopefully he will recover. The plan is that Destiny should be okay."

Konate and Bradley out

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed defensive duo Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate will continue to be sidelined for the upcoming clash against Tottenham, live on Sky Sports.

Both players picked up injuries during the 2-0 win against Real Madrid in November and have missed the last five games.

"They [Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley] don't train with us at the moment but they are on their way back," Slot said.

"I thought [Diogo] Jota would have been back earlier but sometimes it takes a bit longer.

"Let's wait and see but we have a very good rehab person and they have done some good work already. The main thing is when they come back, they need to be ready and stay fit afterwards."
