Tottenham inflicted Manchester City's first defeat at the Etihad in over two years, beating the reigning champions for the second time within Man City's five game losing streak.
Despite the hosts starting the brighter of the two sides, James Maddison opened the scoring for Tottenham in 13th minute. Maddison converted a left-footed, first time volley from close range, following a sumptuous cross from Dejan Kulusevski, after the Swede out muscled Josko Gvardiol in the right wing position.
An onslaught followed from Tottenham, who really gained control with impressive work ethic from all involved, not allowing Man City to construct any slick transitions, which we have become so accustom to seeing in recent years.
Maddison added another after 20 minutes, when Tottenham dispossessed Man City high up the pitch, sending the away stand into elation.
There was natural anxiety surrounding Tottenham at half time, after the calamity that took place against Brighton in October, when their 2-0 halftime lead was reversed emphatically by the side they are now one position below in the table.

The Italian goal keeper was not tested as much as he most likely would have thought prior to the game, but when called into action, pulled off some crucial saves, which required fast reflexes from close range shots.
Pedro Porro - 9
Porro was starved of opportunities to prove himself during his spell at Man City, who have been rumoured to be preparing a bid for their former right back.
The Spaniard was composed with his defensive duties up against Savinho, who constantly looked to drive at the Tottenham backline when in possession.
Porro scored the crucial third goal for Tottenham with an impressive first time finish, which was far too powerful for the helpless Ederson.
Radu Dragusin - 9
The Romanian centre back has been criticised in recent weeks for mistakes which have led to Tottenham conceding goals during their turbulent run of form.
Yesterday's performance though was undoubtedly his best in a Tottenham shirt as he displayed excellent positioning, not allowing Erling Haaland to gain space for chances in the box, also staying composed while playing out from the back, to resist Man City's high press.
Ben Davies - 9
This game was a great opportunity for the Welshman to gain a memorable performance in what is likely to be his final season at the club.
Davies made several last-ditch blocks and used his experience to command the young Tottenham backline, keeping structure and organisation.
Destiny Udogie - 7
The left-back did look vulnerable at times in the first half but really stepped up his game after half time and didn't allow Phil Foden freedom to create danger from the right wing.
Pape Matar Sarr - 9
Sarr was fundamental in Tottenham's dominant midfield display, regularly anticipating Man City's build up play which allowed him to make many interceptions and key passes in transitions from defence to attack.
James Maddison - 10
On his 28th birthday Maddison performed with scintillating style. Not only were his two goals very well taken, both on his weaker foot. But his relentless work rate caused Man City so many problems when attempting to gain a foothold.
Yves Bissouma - 8
Much like Sarr, Bissouma was assured in protecting the backline and prevented City constructing their usual passages of play in the final third.
The reason why he wasn't was awarded with a higher rating was due to the booking he picked up after just 15 seconds, which could have been problematic for his side.
Dejan Kulusevski - 10
The Swede described Man City away as his favourite fixture prior to the game and proved why with an excellent performance in all aspects to haunt Man City once again.
Kulusevski's physicality allowed him to keep ball control in duals and he provided a sublime assist for Tottenham's opener with a delicate lobbed-threw ball from the right wing.
Dominic Solanke - 8
Solanke's performance was reminiscent of the role of Roberto Firmino as a false nine striker, holding the ball up on multiple occasions, allowing his team mates time to make troublesome runs in behind the City defence.
Despite not getting many goal scoring opportunities himself, Solanke provided the assist for Porro's goal, laying the ball off to him at the perfect time, allowing the right back to execute his strike emphatically.
Heung Min-Son - 6
Alongside Kulusevski, no player has picked up more combined goals and assists at the Etihad than the South Korean since Guardiola has been in charge.
Yesterday, Son was not quite his usual self. Despite registering an assist, Son was often poor in possession and wasteful in the final third. Fortunately, his side did not need to rely on his usual heroics to see off Man City.

Did not get many touches of the ball but kept possession comfortably when he did.
Lucas Bergvall - 6
Was lively when he came on and was involved in the build up for some late counter attacks.
Brennan Johnson - 8
Looked more dangerous than Son, whom he replaced, which forced Man City to keep men back, despite them playing a high line when in desperate need of reducing the deficit.
Johnson kept up his scoring form with a late tap in to round off a superb victory for his team.
Timo Werner - 8
During his short spell on the pitch, Werner's only real contribution was his fantastic assist for Johnson's goal.
