The 3AddedMinutes take on the latest Premier League transfer talk.
Manchester United’s attempts to boost their defensive ranks have been widely reported in recent weeks. The Red Devils remain in talks over potential deals for Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt and Lille youngster Leny Yoro and are also believed to retain an interest in Everton and England defender Jarrad Branthwaite - although a deal for the latter appears to remain out of reach as the Toffees continue to demand over £75million for the Carlisle United academy product.
Although the departure of veteran defender Raphael Varane has hastened the need to strengthen at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s back four, the latest reports have suggested a new left-back is also on the agenda.

Football Insider have claimed the Red Devils are ready to offer Sergio Reguillon a route out of Tottenham Hotspur and an opportunity to return to Old Trafford after he spent time on loan with Ten Hag’s side last season. The six-times capped Spain international made 12 appearances in all competitions for the 13-time Premier League champions before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Brentford. The report suggests the Red Devils could be handed an opportunity to land Reguillon on a cut-price deal in a move that would ‘benefit all parties’ as Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to get the defender off the books.
The 3AM Verdict: As the report suggests, this is a move that could work well for everyone as Manchester United are able to provide competition and cover for Luke Shaw and defender is able to put an end to what seems to have been an underwhelming spell with Spurs.
Forest plan ambitious move for Serie A star
Manchester United are not the only Premier League club looking to strengthen in defence throughout the remainder of the summer transfer window.
Reports in Italy have suggested Nottingham Forest are ‘in negotiations’ with Serie A club Fiorentina over a move for Serbian international centre-back Nikola Milenkovic. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed Forest have a ‘concrete’ interest in the former Partizan defender but has stressed talks between the two clubs are ‘not closed or defined’ as it stands. The 26-year-old has been linked with moves to the likes of Roma, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in recent months - but it now looks as if Forest are moving closer to a deal that would bring Milenkovic to the Premier League.

The 3AM Verdict: Milenkovic would bring an abundance of experience to the City Ground after making over 260 appearances for Fiorentina over the last seven years. He was also part of the Fiorentina side that were beaten by West Ham United in the final of the Europa Conference League in 2023 and has represented Serbia on 57 occasions. If the price is right, this could prove to be a very shrewd move for Forest.
Toffees ‘negotiating’ with Napoli over Danish international deal
Everton are reportedly closing in on a third new signing of the summer transfer window.
The Toffees have already secured the services of Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye and Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam and remain keen to add to their squad during the remainder of the summer transfer window. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed Everton have opened talks with Serie A club Napoli over a deal to sign Danish international Jesper Lindstrom - but also stressed Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua is not currently in discussions over a move to join the blue half of Merseyside.
He posted on social media outlet X (formerly Twitter): “Everton have opened talks with Napoli to sign Jesper Lindstrøm as winger is next top target. Negotiations underway, Napoli are open to selling Jasper in case of good proposal, Everton on it. NO talks for Jackson Tchatchoua from Verona despite links.”

The 3AM Verdict: This was always going to be a challenging transfer window for Everton after their well-versed battles with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations. However, the signing of Ndiaye was a positive start to their recruitment and a move for Lindstrom could prove to be equally beneficial. It would also offer the Danish star a chance to move on from a largely disappointing spell with Napoli.
