Alexander-Arnold available to face Real Madrid

Liverpool v Real Madrid (20:00 GMT)

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot says Trent Alexander-Arnold is available to face Real Madrid in the Champions League - but hopes to be in a position not to use him.

Alexander-Arnold, who has been strongly linked with a move to the defending European champions, has been out since being forced off with a hamstring injury against Aston Villa on 9 November.

The England defender, who pulled out of the recent Nations League games with the injury, trained with the Liverpool squad on Tuesday.

"Trent is in the squad but will not be available to start," said Slot.

"He can maybe make a few minutes but in an ideal world he maybe doesn't. If it's really necessary he can make a few minutes."

Alexander-Arnold, 26, is out of contract in the summer along with Egypt forward Mohamed Salah and the Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool have won all four of their Champions League games so far.

Emery tells fans to 'enjoy' Juve match

Aston Villa v Juventus (20:00 GMT)

Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery wants his side to enjoy competing in the Champions League when they welcome Juventus to Villa Park on Wednesday.

Villa have not won any of their last six games in all competitions since they beat Bologna 2-0 in the Champions League last month.

On his message to supporters, Emery said: "Enjoy it. We want to enjoy competing and we want to enjoy winning. We are here in the Champions League trying to be consistent."

Juventus are 11th in the table, two points behind Villa after two wins, a draw and a defeat from their first four games.

Show the power of Celtic Park - Rodgers

Celtic v Club Brugge (20:00 GMT)

Kheredine Idessane

BBC Scotland

Brendan Rodgers is urging his players to "show the power of Celtic Park" against Club Brugge, with the Champions League knockout phase within reach.

Celtic have seven points from their four outings, with the Belgians one behind after their 1-0 home win over Aston Villa.

"We're really pleased with seven out of 12 at halfway, but not just that, it's the performance level," said manager Rodgers.

"In three of the four games we've shown a really high level and the Leipzig game was the culmination of everything we would want; the physicality, pressing, aggression and also the calmness in our defending."

Celtic came from behind to overwhelm the Bundesliga side 3-1 and Rodgers wants to create a similar night for fans to enjoy.

"It's another opportunity for us to show the power of Celtic Park," he said.

"We don’t take it for granted but we want to connect with that fire, passion and emotion and bring that on to the field with a level of football that excites.

"You can see, when all of that is connected, what it brings."

How they stand

The Champions League table is so big these days we have to chop it in two.

Here is the top half, with a reminder that the top eight sides after eight matches will qualify for the last 16...

...and here is the bottom half. Sides from ninth down to 24th will face an extra play-off tie, over two legs, to earn their place in the last 16.

Those that finish from 25th down will be eliminated.

Tottenham not looking to sign another goalkeeper

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on whether the club will sign a free agent goalkeeper following news that Guglielmo Vicario would miss "months" after undergoing ankle surgery: "No, that is not going to happen. That's why we've got a squad of players. I don't think us signing a free agent now is going to help us. If I hadn't named Fraser [Forster] in the European squad, that would've been a radical decision.

"When you're left with two and they couldn't play in Europe, then you would kind of look at it but unless something else happened, that's why we've got four goalkeepers.

"Young Luca [Gunter], who to be fair has been injured and is not ready, but Fraser I've known for a long time and he's such a strong character within the group and he's ready to play. Brandon [Austin] is improving all the time. Alfie [Whiteman] has also sort of been at the club for a while and whatever has been asked, the training capacity that they bring, we are more than capable with what we've got."

'Davies has been trusted by whoever has managed him'

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Ben Davies and whether he gets the credit he deserves: "It's hard to say with perceptions because it depends on what your kind of barometer is. There's so many these days that depending on which rabbit hole you go into, you can get any sort of outcome you want. I would doubt that anyone who has any sort of real passion for this football club or football would say he wouldn't be highly respected in or outside of this football club.

"He's the captain of his country. It's a testament to his ability, the fact a number of coaches through this football club have all entrusted him at different times, whether that is Jose [Mourinho], Mauricio [Pochettino] or whoever he's been managed by, that just goes to show.

"I don't have any doubts that Ben is well respected within the game and he is still performing at a very good level. He's captained his nation and with us this year, he's really grown into that sort of defensive role of playing centre-back and at the weekend, him and Radu were outstanding against a top team."

'I love the country, love the food, love the football'

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou on whether he has ever come close to managing in Italy: "I haven't been close. There's always been a connection. Coming from Australia, especially Melbourne, there's a really strong Italian community who are very passionate about their football.

"There's always an interest in Italian football, it has gone through various stages from the great AC Milan days and so forth. Many of the best foreigners in the world were playing in Italy. I never had a team in Italy but I always loved [former Italy and AC Milan head coach [Arrigo] Sacchi. He was one of the geniuses of Italian football.

"I always had an interest in it and it's always been at different levels, but you always know when you play teams from Italy, because they are so passionate about football, it is always shown in their teams. I've never been close to going there but I love the country, love the food and love the football."

Ranieri managing at 73 'unbelievable' - Postecoglou

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on facing Claudio Ranieri, who is 73: "It's unbelievable. It just goes to show the passion he has for the game because I'm sure there's more enjoyable, simpler ways to enjoy his life now, but he still has that in him.

"I haven't come across him before, but I'm looking forward to saying hello because it's always nice to actually meet some of these people who have made such a massive impact in football, particularly in my field, management.

"He's always come across as a gentlemen. I'm looking forward to meeting him and it just goes to show that kind of bug for being a manager on the touchline doesn't leave you."
