Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3 – 0 loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur. Here are our player ratings from the game.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Andre Onana 7 – Made two or three crucial saves that kept United in the game and prevented the scoreline from being truly embarrassing. Couldn’t do much about the goals.

Noussair Mazraoui 6 – Produced some important interceptions and tackles that may have stopped certain goals. United’s best defender but that’s not saying much really.

Matthijs de Ligt 4 – Shaky game. Spurs’ forwards had his number for large parts of the game.

Lisandro Martinez 3 – Same as De Ligt mostly but lost the ball for Dejan Kulusevki’s strike. Also had his name taken by the referee for a reckless foul on Maddison.

Diogo Dalot 2 – Dreadful performance. Was sloppy and constantly gave the ball away. Offered Rashford no support and was outdone by Brennan Johnson time and time again.

Manuel Ugarte 3 – Poor, slow on the ball and lacked any expansiveness on the ball. A complete hologram for Spurs’ first goal as he simply let Micky van de Ven run past him.

Kobbie Mainoo 5 – OK performance. Created United’s best chance of the opening 45 minutes. Fans will be hoping his injury is not serious.

Bruno Fernandes 2 – Very poor again before he was given his marching orders for a rough challenge on James Maddison. Let his teammates down and will now not be able to play vs. Aston Villa, Brentford and West Ham.

Marcus Rashford 4 – Nothing came off for him bar a cross to the back-post for Garnacho. Also lost the ball for Spurs’ opener.

Joshua Zirkzee 4 – Didn’t offer much, not even his usual excellent link-up play and holding up of the ball. Missed another clear-cut chance.

Alejandro Garnacho 4 – Tried to be dangerous, especially in the second half but almost nothing worked. Smashed the post in the first period of the match.

Substitutes

Mason Mount 5 – On the fringes. His set-piece deliveries were poor.

Casemiro 6 – Tried to inject some attacking impetus in the game and got forward whenever he could but his contributions ultimately didn’t count for much. Almost found the back of the net but dragged his shot just wide.

Christian Eriksen 5 – Didn’t have an impact when he was thrust into the action.

Rasmus Hojlund 5 – Same as Eriksen.

Amad Diallo 5 – Didn’t do much during the limited time he was on the pitch.

Erik ten Hag 1 – Must take most of the responsibility for the embarrassing loss. United were outdone in almost every single department. The team looked clueless and nowhere near on the same level as Spurs. Ten Hag is running out of excuses and unless things drastically improve, he’s likely to be sacked.
