Manchester United remain 15th in the Premier League table after they lost 1-0 away to Tottenham on Sunday.

James Maddison scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute for Spurs in a crucial victory for the under-pressure Ange Postecoglou.

At fault for the only goal as he pushed Lucas Bergvall’s effort right into the path of the unmarked Maddison. A save on 79 minutes from Dejan Kulusevski was important but did not make up for the earlier error.

Didn’t win as many headers as usual. Did okay in a defence largely rattled by Spurs’ high press.

Stood static as Maddison stole in for the goal. Wasted possession with long passes which were overhit.

Won some key aerial battles and produced a couple of important blocks, yet found Djed Spence very difficult to pin down.

Looks a fine signing by United. Can bomb on, but not afraid of doing his defensive duties either. Booked.

Deserved an assist for the way he found Garnacho in acres of space in the first half. Energetic. His passing a constant threat.

Had a bit of a shocker. Booked in the first half, given the runaround by Lucas Bergvall, and played passes into touch.

Not his usual lively self down the flank. Missed one chance early on.

Missed a huge chance in the first half when he blazed over from Fernandes’s threaded ball. Forced Guglielmo Vicario into two saves after the break.

Curled wide with a shot in the first half. Displayed his excellent first touch on occasion by plucking the ball out of the sky.

Forced Vicario into an early save from the right. Too often caught offside.
