Fantasy Premier League managers may have been sweating this week over what to do with Wolves star Matheus Cunha after claims emerged he had been suspended ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
Ange Postecoglou 's side host the Midlands club in the 3pm kick-off as they hope to close the gap on the top 10 in the standings. Spurs were narrowly beaten last time out against Nottingham Forest as Djed Spence was sent off for a second yellow card.
Wolves, on the other hand, got the better of Manchester United on Boxing Day with Cunha among the goals in a 2-0 win at Molineux. United were also reduced to 10 men that day as club captain Bruno Fernandes was also sent off for two bookings.
Speculation emerged ahead of the weekend's games that Cunha had been handed a five-game suspension for an altercation that occurred after the full-time whistle of their meeting with Ipswich Town at the beginning of December. A post on social media platform X appeared to be a screengrab of an FA statement, but it was later proved to be fake.
Although Cunha was charged with misconduct by the FA last week, he was still eligible to play against Leicester City and United. He is also available for the clash with Spurs as the outcome of Cunha’s charge is yet to be confirmed by the FA.
So, fortunately for FPL managers, Cunha will be in Wolves' squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. While a ban is still a possibility following the conclusion of the FA's investigation, he remains a safe option for at least another gameweek.
Spurs, on the other hand, will be without Spence as he serves the one-game suspension following his red card. Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven and Christian Romero are still among those sidelined through injury.
