Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

According to former Tottenham scout Mick Brown, the player’s agent is pushing for a move to Real Madrid in the summer. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish outfit decides to make a move for him. They need more quality in the defensive unit, and the Dutch International could be a useful acquisition.

He has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club, and his departure would be a massive blow for the north London outfit. Former Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, has described him as a “Rolls-Royce” player in the past.

Brown has revealed to Football Insider that Real Madrid have sent scouts to watch Tottenham games this season. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Cristian Romero has been linked with the move to Real Madrid as well.

Tottenham simply cannot afford to lose two of their best defenders in the summer. It will be interesting to see if they can convince the Netherlands international to stay at the club.

Brown revealed: “His agent is really pushing for a move to Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid want a centre-back and they’ve been looking at options. A lot of those options are in the Premier League, and we spoke before about Romero.

“They’ve had scouts at Tottenham games having a look, so I don’t doubt Van de Ven is on their radar.

“If they come calling, he will want to go, because it’s always difficult for players to turn down a move to Real Madrid, especially after a difficult season like he’s had.”

Tottenham cannot afford to lose Micky van de Ven

Tottenham are currently 15th in the league table. It has been a disastrous season for them, and they will be desperate to make amends next year. They need to hold onto their best players and improve the squad further in order to do that.

The 23-year-old defender has the qualities to compete at the highest level, and there is no doubt that he is good enough for Real Madrid. If they manage to get the deal done, it would be an exceptional addition for them.
