Andrea Pirlo, one of the greats of the modern game, will be part of the AC Milan Glorie squad to face Spurs Legends in aid of the Club’s Foundation at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 23 March (2pm)

A midfielder who famously pulled the strings for Milan, Juventus and Italy, Pirlo made 401 appearances in 10 seasons for I Rossoneri between 2001/02 and 2010/11, securing Serie A titles for the San Siro side in 2003/04 and 2010/11 and the UEFA Champions League in 2003 and 2007.

We’ll have more news on AC Milan Glorie’s squad soon.

Pirlo was nicknamed Il Architetto (The Architect) by team-mates. Carlo Ancelotti, a key figure in Pirlo’s career and his manager at Milan, said: "Pirlo spots a pass in a split second that lesser players could spend a whole lifetime waiting to see."

After moving to Juventus from Milan, he secured four-successive titles, 2011/12 to 2014/15 - during which time he was named Serie A Footballer of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 - before ending his career in a new adventure in the MLS at New York City FC between 2015-2017.

Pirlo won 116 caps for Italy and played a key role as the Azzurri lifted the ultimate prize, the World Cup, in 2006. He scored Italy’s first goal of the tournament, provided assists in both the semi-final against Germany and final against France and then converted the first penalty of the shoot-out after the final ended 1-1. He was named Man of the Match in Berlin.
