Heung-Min Son has endured a difficult season at Tottenham Hotspur

Heung-Min Son has been an exceptional servant for Tottenham Hotspur. The South Korea international has been at the club for a decade now and is surely a legend at N17. The winger has made 451 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 173 goals and providing 96 assists in that time. His partnership with Harry Kane in the attack can be considered one of the best duos to have graced the Premier League.

However, this season has not gone according to plan for the 32-year-old. Son has struggled to be his old self and make an impact on games. The ex-Leverkusen winger has just not gotten started, and his game time has also been limited this season under Ange Postecoglou. With many fans getting frustrated with the lack of threat offered by Son, the forward is under serious pressure to perform in this last part of the season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have struggled to get going themselves this season. Spurs sit in the bottom half of the Premier League and are on their way to finish the season with their lowest-ever points total in the league. It has been anything but smooth sailing for the Australian manager, and the lack of form and impact from his club captain has not helped either.

Robbie Keane talks about Heung-Min Son’s future at N17

Heung-Min Son has endured a poor season by his own standards. As per Sofascore, the Spurs No.7 has registered 11 goals and 11 assists this season, which is not at all bad. But the consistency with which these numbers have come has not helped Tottenham’s cause. The 32-year-old has struggled to make an impact in recent months and has managed to register minimal impact since the turn of the year.

Robbie Keane has now given his verdict on how tough it’s been for the Tottenham winger. Speaking to Betway Insider, Keane said,

“Son Heung-min’s had a difficult season, although I think that goes for the whole team. He’s definitely missing Harry Kane, as the two of them bounced off each other very well and that was always going to be a huge change for Sonny. He hasn’t been playing as often as he would like, he’s lacking a little bit of confidence, but he’s still a top, top player.”

The former Spurs striker added,

“I hope he won’t leave in the summer because he’s been an incredible player for Spurs, but there comes a stage with every player where the fans might want to see something different. It seems to me that maybe he and the manager don’t have the relationship that he had with other managers before, because he takes him off a lot and drops him.”

Robbie Keane suggested that it has been a tough season for Heung-Min Son, but that is because he has not received any help from any other forwards as well. The ex-Northern Ireland international suggested that Son is still a top player and that Tottenham cannot afford to let him go in the summer. Keane believes that Ange Postecoglou does not have faith in Son as he gets subbed off and dropped a lot from the first team.
