Loaning players to Sevilla rarely works out well for either those players or the clubs who own them. Should they not shoot out of the blocks at speed then there’s rarely any patience, and if they manage to do well then any contractual agreement for a purchase price will be wholly ignored.
Brighton & Hove Albion sent Valentín Barco there for the current season, believing he’d have more chance to develop than he would with the Seagulls. Barca has failed to build on his big potential since his controversial exit from Boca Juniors and things haven’t got much better in Spain.
Ficherio, which appears to be a site decidated to Seville’s teams, states Barco is well away from the level Sevilla want and could be replaced by a Tottenham Hotspur player in January.
The gist is that Barco would be sent back to Brighton, and Sevilla would then move to sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.
Reguilon isn’t being used by Ange Postecoglou this season – at all – and with a contract expiring in June there’ll be hope for a potential free transfer.
This one may require a pinch of salt, but the general gist is believable. Brighton taking Barco back and potentially sending him elsewhere isn’t the worst idea, and Tottenham may as well rid themselves of Reguilon’s wages.
