Tottenham right-back Djed Spence has missed the last few games with a groin problem
It looks like several of Tottenham Hotspur’s players could be absent for some upcoming big games. We are just at the start of November and injuries are starting to take their toll.
One of those players is Djed Spence. It has been a bizarre couple of months for the right-back at the club. The chiefs at the Hotspur Way decided to omit the 24-year-old from the Europa League group-stage squad despite his impressive performances in the pre-season. And Tottenham announced that the player has signed a new contract extension at the club.
Just when Djed Spence thought the contract extension would now allow him to break into Ange Postecoglou’s side, he got injured. The Englishman has been hampered of late by a groin strain suffered in training, missing the last three games.
Sports scientist and physiotherapist Dr Rajpal Brar claims Spence will miss Spurs’ Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Sunday. The renowned injury expert feels that the player will “take some time” to gradually reintegrate into the squad owing to the setback of the groin injury.
Spence is trying to rejuvenate his career at Spurs after spending the last 18 months out on loan, and the last thing he needed was injury. The Lilywhites’ decision not to include the former England youth international in the Europa League squad before handing him a contract extension is something not many Spurs fans have understood, but by doing, so they have at least shown faith in the player.
Had he been fit now, the ex-Middlesbrough star would have been perfect to play in the cup competitions while giving first-choice right-back Pedro Porro some valuable rest. Spence has played just four games this season but is yet to make a single start.

The attacking full-back will be raring to attain full fitness and come back stronger than ever. Having impressed in the Carabao Cup tie against Coventry City and even scored the vital equaliser, fans will be hoping to see more of him in the coming months.
