Tottenham travel to Manchester United on Sunday in an important fixture for the Champions League ambitions of both teams.
Ange Postecoglou’s side sit 10th in the Premier League table ahead of the game, with Manchester United behind the North Londoners on goal difference. Each will want to avoid a larger gap opening up between them and the top four with three points imperative at Old Trafford.
Spurs have showed signs of recovery from their early season inconsistencies and three consecutive wins in all competitions have increased optimism. Postecoglou’s side beat Qarabag 3-0 in their Europa League opener on Thursday night, despite being reduced to 10 men inside the opening eight minutes after Radu Dragusin’s early red card.
Spurs XI vs Manchester United – Predicted lineup and team news
Tottenham team news
Son Heung-min is a doubt for the clash after being forced off during the win over Qarabag. Postecoglou played down the severity of the South Korean’s issue and he will be given every chance to prove his fitness for the trip to Manchester.
His potential absence would be a big blow to Spurs with Son having started the season in strong form with two goals and two assists in five Premier League appearances.
Postecoglou opted for an attack-minded midfield during last weekend’s win over Brentford, with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski operating as number eights alongside Rodrigo Bentancur. It remains to be seen whether Spurs set up as adventurously at Old Trafford, with Yves Bissouma an option to return to the XI to provide added steel.
Brennan Johnson should retain his place in the forward line after scoring in three consecutive games across all competitions.
Tottenham predicted line up
Tottenham predicted lineup: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Solanke.
