Reports in Spain reveal that Real Madrid have now set their sights on another one of Tottenham’s emerging stars after their unsuccessful efforts to sign Cristian Romero this summer.

Madrid attempts snubbed by Spurs

It was widely reported that Real Madrid were keen on securing Romero in the summer and even made advances towards the Spurs vice-captain.

However, when Los Blancos came knocking for the Tottenham man, Daniel Levy reportedly quoted them a price of £150m, which scared away the Spanish giants (TEAMtalk).

It has now emerged that Carlo Ancelotti’s men have turned their attention to Romero’s defensive partner, Micky van de Ven.

Van de Ven now in Madrid’s sights

According to a report from Defensa Central (as relayed by Fichajes), Madrid are looking to add a centre-back to their squad and are fans of the Dutchman.

It is suggested that the La Liga club’s chief scout, Juni Calafat, has been impressed by the 23-year-old’s development and is continuing to keep an eye on his performances.

However, the publication makes it clear that at the moment, Tottenham have no intention of selling either of their two starting central defenders.

Tottenham will not budge

If it is true that Spurs demanded £150m for Romero, they could well demand an even higher fee for Van de Ven, given his age and his unique attributes.
