Tottenham Hotspur made a late attempt to sign Lecce’s highly-rated left-back Patrick Dorgu during the closing stages of the summer transfer window, according to the outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite their efforts, Spurs were unable to secure the talented defender’s signature. Dorgu, whose market value is reportedly between €30 million and €40 million, caught the attention of several top clubs, including Napoli, AC Milan, and Juventus.

While these teams made approaches for the 19-year-old Danish-Nigerian defender, Lecce decided to hold onto him for the current season. However, the Italian club has informed Dorgu’s representatives that they are open to offers next summer.

The promising left-back, who joined Lecce’s youth academy from Nordsjælland in 2022, has made a rapid rise through the ranks. He debuted for Lecce’s senior team in the recent 2023–24 campaign and has showcased his versatility by not only excelling at left-back but also contributing in midfield and attack on the left flank.

Last season, Dorgu made 34 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia, scoring two goals. With his contract running until June 2027, Lecce consider him a valuable asset, but Tottenham may revisit their pursuit of the player in the January transfer windows.
