Tottenham Hotspur head to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon to lock horns with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup. They beat non-league outfit Tamworth in the third round last time out after extra-time.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were beaten 4-0 away at Liverpool last time out in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. They lost 4-1 on aggregate in the end and missed out on a trip to Wembley.
The North London club will be desperate to get their hands on a trophy this season. Pressure could further intensify on Postecoglou if they were to lose to Villa as well.
Tottenham Hotspur defensive issues
Guglielmo Vicario - out. Vicario has been out of action recently with an ankle/foot problem. However, he isn’t too far off his return as he looks to make the number one spot his own again. Expected return date: 09/02/2025
Cristian Romero - out. Spurs have been without the centre-back over recent times due to a thigh injury. They are being patient with his recovery. Postecoglou has said: “Romero is a bit of a tricky one. We are not really sure yet. There is still some work he needs to do. It’s just a slower healer, and it is one we are looking at on a week-to-week basis.” Expected return date: 22/02/2025
Destiny Udogie - out. His pace and power down the left flank has been missed and he is close to getting back out on the pitch which will be a boost. He gives his side something different when he plays. Expected return date: 09/02/2025
Radu Dragusin - out. He has been dealt a major blow after suffering from an ACL injury. His season is over and it is yet to be known how long he could be out for. Expected return date: N/A
Micky van de Ven - out. Spurs are taking their time with the centre-back as they wait for the right opportunity to throw him back into the league. Postecoglou has said: “Micky got through the [Europa League] game with no problem, but he feels he's not ready yet for the step up to the Premier League. And after losing Radu (Dragusin), I'm not going to risk these guys.” Expected return date: N/A
How long is Richarlison injured for?
Dominic Solanke - out .The striker has been in the treatment room with a knee injury. He should be available later in February, all being well. Expected return date: 22/02/2025
Wilson Odobert - out. He arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer from Burnley and was unlucky when injury struck early on. The winger will be eager to return and show what he can do. Expected return date: 16/02/2025
James Maddison - out. The former Leicester City attacking midfielder hasn’t been seen over the past couple of matches. Postecoglou said late last month: “'Madders is around the same time as well - 10 days' time.” Expected return date: 09/02/2025
Timo Werner - out. He has picked up a thigh injury but like Solanke, Odobert and Maddison, it is hoped he can play in a matter of weeks. Expected return date: 09/02/2025
Brennan Johnson - out. The attacker started this current campaign on fire but his form has stalled a bit recently. He injects quality into Spurs’ attacking department. Expected return date: 09/02/2025
Richarlison - out. He went off in the first-half against Liverpool on Thursday night. Postecoglou has said: “It’s disappointing for him. He was emotional last night because he’d worked really hard to get himself back, but again, it’s another setback that he’s going to have to deal with. We’ll hopefully get him back as soon as possible.” Expected return date: N/A
