Rodrigo Bentancur is set to receive a lengthy FA ban for the comments he made about his Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Son Heung-min.

The FA has made its decision about the Uruguay midfielder’s punishment, with Spurs expecting a suspension of between six and 12 matches after he used a racial stereotype when referring to the 32-year-old South Korean, his club captain, in June.

That would mean Bentancur missing most of the next month at least while the upper end of that window would also include the Christmas period. Tottenham face Manchester City, Fulham, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Southampton in their next five domestic games, all in the Premier League, before the sixth comes against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on December 19 and the seventh
