Tottenham could face a major decision this summer, with reports indicating that Saudi Pro League clubs are preparing a lucrative bid for club captain Heung-min Son.

The South Korean star, who has been the heartbeat of Spurs’ attack for nearly a decade, recently signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2026.

Yet, this hasn’t discouraged interest from the Middle East, with Saudi heavyweights Al Ittihad and Al Hilal reportedly ready to table a substantial €50m (£41.7m) offer to tempt him away, as reported by CaughtOffside. Considering Son’s age and recent form, Tottenham might find such a proposal hard to dismiss.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King recently suggested that Spurs would consider an offer for Son in the region of £50m.

The 32-year-old forward has been inconsistent with his performances this season but has still managed to rack up decent goal contribution —scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

He has been at the receiving end of criticism from pundits, with Phil Thompson accusing him of not listening to Ange Postecoglou anymore.

Son has been an outstanding signing for Tottenham

Since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for £22 million, Son has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League. His blistering pace, clinical finishing, and relentless work ethic have produced countless unforgettable moments, including winning the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season and reaching the Champions League final in 2019. His status as a leader was cemented when he took on the captain’s armband at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign.

In 442 appearances for the club so far, he has scored an incredible 172 goals and assisted another 92 across all competitions.

However, with Tottenham eager to revamping their squad in the summer, the allure of cashing in on Son while his market value remains strong could be tempting.

If Spurs were to entertain such a move, it would undoubtedly signal the end of an era—one that saw Son become a club legend.
