Tottenham’s struggles continued as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town in true Spursy fashion, handing the visitors their first win of the season. Adding to Spurs’ woes, reports suggest Sergio Reguilón is looking to terminate his contract in January due to his exclusion from the team under Postecoglou. The full-back aims to secure a move elsewhere to gain more consistent first-team opportunities, leaving Tottenham to face a decision on his future.
Sergio Reguilón, who joined Tottenham from Real Madrid for £32 million in 2020, has struggled to find a place in the squad since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival in 2023. Despite loan spells at Manchester United and Brentford, neither club chose to sign him permanently. Now, Reguilón is reportedly seeking to terminate his contract in January to secure regular first-team football, a move that reflects his desire for stability after a series of temporary stints away from Spurs.
Reguilon Wants to Leave Tottenham
Initially anticipated to depart Tottenham, Sergio Reguilón remained without a deal, leaving him sidelined from the squad. Excluded from both the European matchday team and the Premier League bench, the 27-year-old has yet to make any appearances this season which would want to Lilywhites to offload the £53,000 per week star.
Due to limited game time, report from Caught Offside now suggest that Sergio Reguilón aims to end his contract at Tottenham for regular play elsewhere, with La Liga clubs Sevilla and Getafe showing interest. Spurs are unlikely to block the move, given that he ranks behind Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, and even others filling in at left-back. Reguilón previously called his sudden Tottenham exclusion “strange,” explaining that a surprising fallout with the manager abruptly side lined him from the first team.
