Tottenham are reportedly not interested in signing Scott McTominay.

Last week it was reported that Spurs are plotting a move to hijack a deal for the Manchester United midfielder.

The report claimed that Ange admires the player and that the club are closely tracking the Scottish international, contemplating a bid.

However, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge, in an update to GiveMeSport, hasclarified that despite recent rumours, Spurs have no plans to pursue McTominay.

Manchester United, under the management of Erik ten Hag, is keen to retain McTominay this summer. The club has already turned down an initial bid from Fulham, who have shown ongoing interest in the 27-year-old Scottish international. United’s refusal to sell reflects their desire to keep McTominay at Old Trafford.

Bridge emphasised that the rumours linking McTominay to Tottenham are unfounded.

While acknowledging McTominay’s capabilities and leadership qualities, he confirmed that Spurs are not considering him as a transfer target at this time.

Bridge said:

“My understanding is that there’s nothing in Scott McTominay rumours at the moment.

“He is a very decent player, and he’s a bit of a leader, but I don’t think Tottenham are in for him as it stands. As we speak, it’s not a player I think Spurs are pursuing.”

McTominay had a standout season, scoring 10 goals and adding three assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, marking his best goalscoring season to date. However, this has not influenced the Lilywhites’ transfer plans.

Tottenham have strengthened their midfield with the additions of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall this summer. Gray joined the club for a reported fee of around £40 million, while Bergvall signed for a reported £8.5 million.

However, they are expected to further bolster the position with Jacob Ramsey strongly linked with a move.
