Heung-Min Son has not travelled to Germany and will miss Thursday night's decisive Europa League quarter-final at Eintracht Frankfurt, disclosed Ange Postecoglou.

Sonny missed our Premier League trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday due to a foot injury and, although there was hope he would be back in time to feature in Europe, he is still feeling too much discomfort to play a part in the second leg.

The forward played 80 minutes of the first leg last week, with Pedro Porro's silky flicked finish cancelling out Hugo Ekitike's early opener as it ended 1-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and will frustratingly play no further part in the tie as we battle for a place in the competition's last four.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference at Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday, our Head Coach confirmed our captain's absence: "Sonny didn't travel in the end, he's the only one that misses out.

"He's been battling with his foot problem for a few weeks now and managed [to play] through it. He trained the last few days, he tried to train yesterday and it wasn't right so we made the decision to leave him at home to allow him to recuperate and see the best mode of recovery for him."
