Tottenham Hotspur are actively planning for a midfield overhaul ahead of the summer transfer window, with potential changes expected in their squad.

One of the players likely to be sold in the summer is midfielder Yves Bissouma with reports suggesting manager Ange Postecoglou is running out of patience with him.

There have been suggestions that the club could use the player as part of a player-plus-cash deal to sign a replacement. Initially, it was reported in January that the club are planning to use him in a deal to sign Davide Frattesi.

Yves Bissouma could be used in swap deal for Monaco’s Lamine Camara

It has now been suggested by former Spurs scout Bryan King that the club could initiate a proposed swap deal that could see Yves Bissouma leave North London in exchange for Monaco’s highly-rated midfielder Lamine Camara.

He believes that Monaco could be an appealing destination for Bissouma, making the transfer beneficial for all parties involved.

Speaking to Tottenham News, King said:

“There are worse places to go than Monaco for any player. Therefore, Spurs offering Bissouma plus cash for Camara could be an option. Moving from North London to Monaco would be of interest to Bissouma, I think. As a result, that could be a feasible bit of business.”

“Spurs would be replacing Bissouma with a player for the future, and it could be an important move for Camara, a step up in his career.”

Camara’s rising stock in Ligue 1

Spurs are looking to inject fresh energy into their midfield, and adding a young, dynamic talent like Camara would align with their long-term plans. The 21-year-old Senegalese international has established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most promising midfielders, recognized for his box-to-box capabilities and physical presence.

Camara’s rise has been impressive. After developing at Génération Foot in Senegal, he made the move to France with Metz in early 2023. He quickly adapted to the European game, making his mark in Ligue 1 with a remarkable long-range goal against Monaco. His performances led to a €15 million transfer to Monaco in the summer of 2024, where he has since become a key figure in their midfield.

In his debut season at Monaco, Camara has made 31 appearances across all competitions thus far, registering two goals and six assists. His versatility and athleticism would make him a great fit for Ange Postecoglou’s tactical system at Spurs.

Meanwhile, Bissouma has endured an inconsistent tenure at Tottenham since joining from Brighton, struggling with injuries and fluctuating form. A move to Monaco could provide him with a fresh start, while Spurs would benefit from acquiring a young midfielder with significant potential.

If Tottenham proceed with this swap deal, it could prove to be a smart piece of business.
