Kevin Danso believes that Tottenham Hotspur have a high chance of winning a major trophy this season
Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Danso attended the pre-match press conference before their crucial knockout game against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. The Austrian international seemed very hopeful that Spurs would end the season on a high.
The English club is struggling in the Premier League this season, sitting in the bottom half. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has been heavily criticised for his side’s playing style and results have not gone their way at all.
However, Tottenham Hotspur are still in the Europa League knockouts and are one of the favourites to win the competition. The Australian manager has also said openly that he tends to win a trophy in his second season at a club, so his side will have to be at their absolute best if they want to make that possible.
Spurs defender Kevin Danso was asked about the hunger in the squad to win a trophy. The Austrian replied by saying,
“100% and I think it’s possible. I said before the United game with the week of training that we had with some of the injured lads coming back – it was a lot of positive energy around the place and we ended up with that game and kept a clean sheet.”
The 26-year-old went on to add,
“It’s the same feeling now with Mickey and Cuti back in the squad and everybody is wanting to finish the season strong. We know what a great team we have so now it’s down to us to prove it in every training session and game and try to make an impact.”
The wait for a trophy goes on for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur’s name has been synonymous with “trophyless.” The North London club last won a major trophy back in 2008 when they beat Chelsea to win the Carling Cup. It has been a long 17 years since that memorable day and the club has been through a lot since then.
Spurs have come close to winning the Premier League, the Champions League and the Carabao Cup since then. But every time, the fans have had to head home in disappointment.
However, Spurs fans will be hopeful this year to win the Europa League with Big Ange at the helm. Many fans feel the Australian is the right man for the club and will end the campaign on a high by winning a major trophy.
There is a lot of talent in the squad and Ange Postecoglou has the ability to get the best out of them, although the results may not reflect that. Tottenham Hotspur fans will be hopeful that this is the year when they finally win a major trophy and change the course of their club’s history and let’s wait and see if the Australian-Greek tactician is the man to break the rut.
