Spurs eye up AC Milan defender

It has been very clear for a while now that Tottenham Hotspur need defenders, and quickly. With key assets such as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie all out, Ange Postecoglou has had an awful period of his side leaking goals left, right and centre, and having to play makeshift centre backs in the process, such as youngster Archie Gray, who unfortunately stuck the ball in his own net at Goodison Park in the 3-2 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

Spurs looking at central defender playing over in Serie A

One name the North Londoners are linked with is current AC Milan man Fikayo Tomori. The Rossoneri are apparently open to selling the now 27-year-old within the range of twenty to thirty million Euros. The Englishman hasn't had much joy recently in the north of Italy, starting only nine games and featuring in another three in AC Milan's Serie A campaign this season.

It would be a risk, but one that could be worth taking. His track record and what he's done in his overall time at Milan is very impressive. He played the most minutes out of any outfield player in the 21/22 season, where the Rossoneri won the Scudetto for the first time in eleven years, and their 19th overall league title.Â

The Canadian-born English international could see this as a way to get back in the England squad, as he's had  very little chances to prove himself with the national team, receiving only the five caps so far, and he wasn't even picked ahead of the likes of Lewis Dunk of Brighton & Hove Albion for the 26-man-squad for Euro 2024.

Tomori is someone that providing he stays fit, could very much suit an Ange Postecoglou side. He is very quick and athletic which would be perfect for the extremely high line that Postecoglou likes to play, he is solid one vs one and definitely could provide some aerial threat from corners as well. He can also operate as a full back at either side if needs really must, but is still primarily a centre half by trade.

As stated before, he is now 27 years of age, celebrating his birthday last month. He is coming into the prime period of his career and will want to get back playing first team football and potentially receive another England call up to fulfil his potential. He knows the Premier League, coming out of Chelsea's academy and  playing in their first team for a season, he's athletic and shouldn't be too costly for a club of Spurs' stature and financial position. I think he could fit in the side like a glove.
