On Saturday, our Men's First Team returns to Portman Road for the first time in 23 years.

So, ahead of this rare visit, lets take a trip down memory lane for some moments of nostalgia from our trips to Suffolk...

The last Spurs side to play at Portman Road was our Under-21s in the EFL Trophy back in September, 2019.

Above, you can see Timothy Eyoma (831) leading us out against Ipswich's senior side - the defender had made his first-team debut eight months earlier in our 7-0 FA Cup third round win over Tranmere Rovers.

He is followed out by goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman (847) who is now part of our first-team and who made his debut for our senior side just over 12 months after this game in a 4-0 Europa League win over Ludogorets in November, 2020. Another player who made his debut in that game was Harvey White (848), and he is pictured just behind Alfie in this image while another former first-team player, Dilan Markanday (859), is two players behind Harvey.

We took the lead in this clash at Ipswich through Armando Shashoua, but went on to taste defeat to the then League One side with a second-half Jordan Roberts double seeing the Tractor Boys turn the tide and take victory.

Our most recent win at Portman Road actually came almost 31 years ago as we last claimed three points there in August, 1994.

Pictured above in Nick Barmby (601) playing the ball to one of our goalscorers that day - the iconic Jurgen Klinsmann (617).

He bagged a brace against the Suffolk side with his goals coming either side of a superb Ilie Dumitrescu (616) diving header.

In one of our first ever Premier League matches, we secured a 1-1 draw at Portman Road thanks to quite a bizarre strike from Jason Cundy (594).

Pictured in the centre as he is being mobbed by Justin Edinburgh (584), Neil Ruddock (560) and Darren Anderton (596), the defender managed to open the scoring in the game from the half-way line.

At first, it appeared to be an innocuous clearance from the defender as the ball bounced towards him just inside the Ipswich half, but the power of the kick and the wind inside the stadium managed to take the ball over the goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net!

Incredibly, our first ever visit to Portman Road came in 1961.

In the season after we had became one of just three English teams to have won the 'Double', Ipswich were promoted to England's top flight for the first time - for context, they are now playing in their 27th top-flight campaign.

Pictured above is goalkeeper Bill Brown (440) saving an effort from the Tractor Boys as Cliff Jones (434) gets back as the last line of defence, jumping on the line to head clear the ball if it passed our goalkeeper. Danny Blanchflower (420) and Maurice Norman (424) are also visible.
